Why do children love snow days? Just the idea of being home from school or work, safe at home, with nowhere to go—sounds wonderful!

Everyone needs time to slow down. Maybe you planned on taking a break during the holidays. If I had to guess, I would think you didn’t get much rest or have time to relax with all the activities of the season. So what about now? What if it never snows in your area? Maybe you could declare a snow day, even if the weather is beautiful outside. Here are the rules:

• Do not leave the house all day
• Only wear pj’s or sweats
• No work, including computers or phone calls
• Play games and eat special snacks

If you really want to do it right, light the fireplace and get your sleeping bags out. Have a party in the den, play games, and don’t forget the s’mores.  Make special memories with your children. It may become a tradition!
