Here are five more ways to get out of a rut:
5.Change your routine. Try to break bad habits.
6.One day at a time. Do not succumb to worry and anxiety.
7.Look closely at the people you spend time with.  Negative people will bring you down.

When Your Life Is Stuck In a Rut

Part 1

Are you in a rut? After serving at a church for 19 years that is where I found myself. No matter how motivated or aligned you are, each of us can find ourselves in times of going through the motions.

Here are some signs that you are in a rut:
•You do not enjoy your work.
•Your energy drops dramatically.
•You are not sleeping well.
•You are gaining weight.
•You are no longer passionate.

Here are some ways to get out of a rut:

What If?  by Cyle Clayton

What If?

“When He entered the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?”      Matthew 9:28

What if you purchased a piece of property on which to build a farm? In the middle of the acreage was a huge lake. You saw it as an endless supply of water for your crops and cattle. However, halfway through the summer, the lake went dry.  You never knew it was only a foot deep.

The Reality of the Refiner’s Fire

The words of the Brian Doerken song, “Refiner’s Fire” have always moved my soul in a profound way and it’s always at a different level.  The song’s intimate chorus cries, “Refiner’s Fire, My heart’s one desire is to be holy, Set apart for you, Lord.”

Life Line

My family was around water a lot this summer.  We had the opportunity to spend time at the lake, swimming pools, swimming holes, and even the ocean.  With all that time in the water, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that we saw a swimmer in trouble.  What did come as a surprise was that we saw two groups in need of assistance and that I was involved in helping both.

Significance in Insignificance

I am about to become 61 years old. So what I am going to share happened a long time ago, 56 years ago to be exact. Humor me. I know you are thinking, “What can this old guy have to share that could possibly be significant to me?” It’s called wisdom.

Desperately Seeking

As I stood in an unfamiliar church and began to worship to the music, something wonderful happened.  Every time a lyric talked about Jesus bringing change or healing into a life, people began to cheer, clap and celebrate.  If you walked into this service without knowing the full story, you might miss the impact of the scene.  It was a worship time connected to a Celebrate Recovery group…it was amazing.
